Bacterial Panel
  • Targets four of the most common pathogens reported in outbreaks of diarrhoea – Campylobacter spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., and Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC).
  • Of these, amongst foodborne bacteria, non-typhoidal Salmonella species are the leading cause of hospitalisation and death.3
BD MAX™ Extended Enteric
Bacterial Panel
  • Targets pathogens that are seasonally and regionally implicated in bacterial gastroenteritis – Vibrio spp., Yersinia entercolitica, Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) and Plesiomonas shigelloides.
  • Simply snaps into the Enteric Bacterial Panel test strip, upon request when additional food or waterborne bacteria are suspected or for the immunocompromised patient. Alternatively, this panel may be ordered run for every stool specimen if extended coverage is desired.4

  • The BD MAX™ Enteric Parasite Panel targets the three most common parasites in developed countries – Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium spp. and Entamoeba histolytica
  • Pathogenic Entamoeba histolytica1 cannot be differentiated from the non-pathogenic species Entamoeba dispar2 by traditional microscopy, which can result in missed diagnosis

EIEC, Enteroinvasive Escherichia coli; ETEC, Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli; STEC, Shiga toxin–producing Escherichia coli. Shigella dysenteriae can possess a Shiga toxin gene identical to the Shiga toxin 1 found in STEC.
